What's the difference between CIS 099, CIS 100 and CIS 110?

WCC offers three courses the sound similar. Many people wonder that the difference is between them...

CIS 099

CIS 099 is WCC's most basic intro to computers. You learn how to start one up, how to use the keyboard and mouse, how to save files, and all the stuff that's fundamental. This is the right course for people who have never used computers, or if you have some anxiety about using them.

CIS 100

CIS 100 is our introduction to application software, the programs you use to get stuff done. This includes word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), and presentation software (MS PowerPoint). You also get a quick look at how computers and the Internet work, together with survival tips computer users need. It's the right course if you already know the basics of computers, and want more useful skills and a bit more background.

CIS 110

CIS 110 is a course for computer and business majors. It assumes you're already familiar with how to use computers, the Internet, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software. It's the right course for you if you're interested in becoming a business or computer specialist. You'll learn how businesses use information systems - not just computers. You'll apply spreadsheet software to business analysis problems with MS Excel, and learn the principles and applications of database software with MS Access.
