To get the version of the operating system on Windows 8, use the mouse to
move the pointer to the lower right corner of the screen.
That will open a side panel that will allow you to
select the "settings icon: . Once you have clicked on that icon,
another side panel will open. On that side panel select
the "PC Info" link, as in:
That will bring up a whole new window similar to the one shown below. The 32-bit or 64-bit
designation will be in the area corresponding to the area highlighted in the image below.
Once you have determined the 32-bit or 64-bit version you can close that window.
