Return to: Installing R on a Windows Machine To get the version of the operating system on Windows 10, use the mouse to move the pointer to the lower left corner of the screen, to the Ask me anything box

. In that box stype contr, the start of "control panel" and the display should change to something like

That is good enough to show the choice. We want to use that choice so we will just click on it. That will bring up a whole new window similar to the one shown below. The 32-bit or 64-bit designation will be in the area corresponding to the area highlighted in the image below.

Once you have determined the 32-bit or 64-bit version you can close that window.
