Final Project: Brainstorm
10 points
due: March 10

We're into the 7th week of the semester, and it's time to begin thinking about your final project.

Your final project site must be for a client, real or fictional, and the final product will be a 5 to 10 page website. This site will be a chance to really show off both your creative skills and the technical skills you are gaining in GDT 150.

The first step is to turn in to me a three paragraph minimum proposal. The purpose is to get you brainstorming about how you'd like to set up your site. It will be important to use search engines to explore the Web and find sites similar to the one you'd like to build to get ideas. If you are unfamiliar with using search engines, please go to:

At a minimum, please describe:

  • The type of website you'll be creating -- please describe the potential client and what type of business or organization it would be.
  • What kind(s) of goods or services would be promoted or sold?
  • Comparable sites that presently exist on the Web. Discuss which features on these sites that you would like to possibly adapt to your own site.
  • Discuss features not included on these sites that you'd like to include for your project.
  • What types of imagery do you think would be included in this site? Original graphics or photos? Stock photography?

It's okay if this initial proposal does not include all of the exact details. The point is that you begin to piece together ideas. Once you get started, more will follow!

Please remember, it's important that whatever you decide to do for your project, that the subject matter is interesting to you! And also, keep in mind that time is limited, so be realistic in your goals and expectations.
