Final Project: Client Proposal

The purpose of this proposal is develop an understanding of how to summarize a client's web site requests into a professional business proposal. You'll use the insights gained from Assignment 2 as you put together ideas to propose to your client. It is intended both to help you prepare for your final project and to give you an idea of how projects are proposed to clients in the industry.

This should be structured as a formal letter to a prospective client and should be 1-2 pages in length. Please do not double-space, except to separate paragraphs. After reading your proposal, I should have a basic understanding of the type of project your client is requesting, an idea of the work involved, the time it will take to execute, and any additional concerns you have regarding the success of the project.

Your proposal should include:

*an introduction to the project

• What is the project?
• What are the overall goals and objectives of the project?
• Who is the intended audience?
• What image(s) will the site have?
• What product(s) and/or service(s) will the site be selling or marketing?
• Are there any unique challenges/characteristics of the site?
• How will the site be marketed (in search engines, on printed materials, in commercials, etc.)?
• Are there other industry web sites which can be used for reference?

*your understandings of what the project will entail

• what kind of graphics are needed (do you need to make original graphics, are company logos needed, will you be creating a navigational graphic, are animations needed, are digital photos requested, etc.)?
• what is the scope of the coding involved?
• how will the site be laid out (home page with links to five categories, splash page, etc.)?
• what types of navigation are needed (text links, graphic links, etc.)?
  

*your time estimates and plans for publishing (you may present the time estimates in a timeline or table)

• what kind of research do you need to do?
• how much time is needed for original graphics?
• how much time is needed for coding?
• when will first drafts be done (front page and template pages)
• when will the final site be published (in phases, all at once, etc.)?
• where will the site be published (what is the URL, who is hosting the site)?
• will there be any additional maintenance/work required after initial publishing?

*any special concerns you have regarding the project (timeline, resources, site hosting, maintenance, etc.)
