Alternate approach to Chapter 1.1, Example 3
I have found that some students do not like the explanation given for
example 3 from chapter 1.1. The approach below, although algebraically
no different from that in the book, seems to be more acceptable to some students.
I would appreciate any explanation of why either version seems easier and/or more
clear to a student. Thanks.
