INP 153: Overview
Designing User Experience 1
In this course students will learn the principles and practices of user-centered design, as well as the fundamentals of information architecture and interface design for the Web.
Areas of focus are human-computer interaction, critical evaluation of existing websites, and creating deliverables that a user experience professional typically produces.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will have knowledge and skills in:
- Techniques for assessing user needs and goals
- Developing user personas and scenarios
- Conducting competitive analyses
- Using card sorts to develop and validate site architectures
- Evaluating website navigation, organization, and labeling
- Diagramming website structure, functionality, and flow
- Creating interface wireframes
- Optimizing written content for websites
- Design of within-site search
