First E-mail Exercise

Module NA11h

As a first electronic mail exercise, here is something simple to get started with.

  1. Log in to your account

  2. Select your electronic mail program.
(Use Pegasus, Pine, Eudora, Netscape...whatever is available to you.)

  3. Give the command to compose a message.
(This will be available either as a menu command or as a toolbar button).

  4. In the To: line, put your instructor's address. Example:
    krieg@wccnet.edu

  5. In the Subject line, put your name, class, section number, and exercise number. Example:
Sara Strong, CIS 100 Section 99, Ex. NW-1

  6. In the body of the note, write 4-5 lines introducing yourself to your instructor. Remembering that the instructor will receive many similar messages, try to think of something that will help him/her to distinuish you from everyone else in the class. After all, you are unique!

  7. Proof-read the message to make sure there are no goof-ups.

  8. Send the message, using the Send button or command for your e-mail program.

That's it!
