Exploring Fireworks, part 1
Module D31h
* About this document... *
Audience and Objectives *
Macromedia Fireworks is a graphics program designed sepcifically for Web image
and page creation. It combines features of bitmap (raster) graphics programs
like Adobe Photoshop with vector (object) graphics like Adobe Illustrator's.
In addition, it provides help in creating animations and other Web-specific
items. This assumes you are using Version 3.
What to Do
There are two parts to this exercise: doing the Fireworks Tutorial, and
defining important terms and concepts
Doing the Tutorial
-
Run Macromedia Fireworks. At WCC, Fireworks is available only in selected
labs, such as LA 129 and SC 302.
-
From the Help menu, select Tutorial. This should open a browser window
that has the tutorial in it. You will need to switch frequently between
the browser window and the Fireworks window.
-
If you are asked to download a newer version of Shockwave, you may skip
it. It wants to show you a short animated sequence, but this is optional.
-
You should do all the sections of the tutorial, including:
-
Drawing tools
-
JavaScript buttons
-
Sophisticated rollovers
-
Live Effects
-
Automation
-
Masks
-
Hotspots
-
Image optimization
-
Export images, HTML, and JavaScript
-
Animation
-
When you open the first tutorial file, Tutorial_Start.png, you
should save it onto your ZIP disk. If you're working at home, save it on
your hard drive in a different directory/folder from the one the tutorial
is in.
-
You will be opening a second file, Animated_Start.png. Save that
on the same disk as the first file.
-
Be prepared to show the results of your work in class. If you use a diskette,
hand it in to your instructor. If you put the files on your Web site, send
the instructor email with the URL.
Define Terms and Concepts
You will encounter the following terms and concepts as you work through
the tutorial. Jot down a brief explanation of each, so you will be prepared
to discuss them in class.
-
Stroke and fill
-
Select and Subselect
-
Objects and Bitmaps
-
Save and Export
-

-

-

this lesson, you will be able to...
-
