Overview

At this point you should be familiar with the basic graphics tools of Photoshop and ready to go into more depth. This project is intended to help you think about design as well as use the tools. We'll start by analyzing some aspects of Web design before we do any actual work with the tools. This project is intended to be a multi-week effort, and you will be evaluated on your sense of good design, color, and balance as well as on your skill with the tools of the trade.

One of the more frequent assignments for Web designers is to create a banner ad. This involves the use of several types of graphics. For this first project, we will create a banner ad for ourselves as Web designers.

A banner ad is the graphic advertisement that appears at the top or bottom of commercial Web pages. They are usually 60 pixels high and either 400 or 468 pixels wide.

This project consists of four steps. Each has its own due date, and is discussed in a separate, related module.
